Rip DVD for Playback on the Sprint EVO or Iphone4
Okay this is gonna be fairly simple and straight forward since i don't actually have the phone to test it with.
You will need a dvd of your choice and Handbrake which can be found at http://handbrake.fr/
Load up handbrake and select your source.
Select the DVD/Video TS Folder then it will ask you where the dvd is select the DVD drive then the video ts folder
and hit okay.
It will scan for a bit to locate all the files of the DVD.
Once that is done we need to set the where the file will output to. For this example just set it to send it to the
desktop or somewhere you can find it.
Okay if you look to the left you will see some common presets. For most of you iphone and ipod touch users
these should be fine for you. I am gonna tweak these to fit on the Sprint HTC EVO for this example.
I just realize that the EVO is 800x480 i don't think my DVD is larger than 720. So i am just gonna leave the
preset at normal and make a couple small changes. We set the output destination to the desktop above, but
I am gonna change the File name from M4V to MP4 just I will have the ability to play this file on more than just
Apple products.
The last change I am gonna make is to the file size. Handbrake has a nice feature that will help you keep
the file size down but the quality still up. Make sure you don't make this file too small because if so it will
really decrease the quality of the movie.
Okay so that is really all the changes I make. Click the start button and let it go from there. I am running
a Iphone so I have to use itunes to upload my movie but I think you can just stick it on a memory card
and view it from there. I hope this helps somebody. There are many other ways to do it and hundreds of
settings that can be changed but this has always worked for me and is pretty simple.
